What Causes Terrorism?

Not poverty, not Islam, but squelching of political freedom and good places to hide-out, according to this research.

Interesting, to say the very least.

He makes an interesting point that you can limit terrorism through brutality, as has been done in many middle eastern countries, exporting it to the rest of the world. You can also limit terrorism by having political freedom. Terrorism seems to thrive in the middle, when there isn't enough brutality to stop it, but not enough political freedom to make it a bad bet. We see this going on in Iraq right now. I wish there was a study of how a specific case of terrorism was eliminated or eraticated.
