What is the sound of one hand clapping? Writer/director David O. Russell probably went over this eternal question with Lily Tomlin, who plays an existential detective in his meta-screwball comedy, I Heart Huckabees. One of this season's more daring movies, the film sends characters played by Dustin Hoffman, Jason Schartzman, Jude Law, and Mark Wahlberg along a roller coaster storyline in search of the meaning of life — from existentialism and Buddhism to nihilism and back again. Russell and Tomlin team up to discuss the madcap process of making the movie, which by some accounts was rather unorthodox. (MS)
