Sack Up

I'll give a little amen to Sullivan here...one of his readers writes:

The approval of Proposition 8 is a terrible blow to us. For the first time in so many years I feel pushed back into the psychosis and depression of the closet.

Sullivan writes:

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Know that your love is real; cherish it; hold your spouses closer; build your families; take care of your kids; live your dream.

People can be stupid, idiotic, and mean. That's the main lesson of middle school. So what? Sack up. Move on. Chin up.

This is not a sticks and stones situation, where just feelings are being hurt. Denying a group of people a right that everyone else has strictly based on their sexual preference is discrimination. Period. Don't belittle what this means to the people who are being denied.

not trying to belittle. i just don't think people need to look to government for validation.

plus, marriage isn't a right in the eyes of the law. it's a contract.
