Book Banning Rumors
Here is the original article from 1996 about the details of what now is the Sarah Palin book banning rumor.
As far as I can tell, the article details an incredibly boring procedural issue. Palin apparently asked a rhetorical question to her staff about how they would react to a request by her to ban certain books.
Smart liberals are aghast at the conservative rumors that Obama is a Muslim, so why do they perpetrate ridiculous rumors about Palin?

Is this thing being blown out of proportion? Yes. Are fake lists of banned books by Palin going around the internet? Yes. Does it seem like the reality was that she was simply asking a rhetorical question? Well yes and no. While it could be argued that Palin's line of questioning was simply a "what-if" scenario in regards to policy, why censorship should even be a what-if scenario contemplated by a person in her position of power is still scary.
