Against A Financial Products Safety Panel

WSJ opinion on treating borrowers like adults.

There is an issue with Americans (and people in general) and that issue is stupidity. The fact is, we need a financial products safety panel because consumers are stupid and if left to their own devises, will pay millions of dollars for crappy homes and as we've learned over the last year, this can have ripple effects throughout the whole economy. The question is: how do we protect us from ourselves? Or put another way - who is stupider - consumers or government bureaucrats telling people what they can do?

A toss up if you ask me.
