Thought

Is there a scenario where LeBron and the Lakers never get out of the first round of the playoffs for like 2-3 years? Say GSW and Houston are 1-2 for the next 2 years after which either the T-Wolves, Pelicans OKC, Utah, Portland, or Denver supplant one or both. LeBron could be facing a finals dry spell for the rest of his career and go out like Kobe. Just saying, it could happen.

UPDATE:

I'm enjoying thinking about one of the "other" West teams taking a leap. T-Wolves might be able to just with the right coach. Pelicans, I think, have found their big two, and just need to put smart pieces into place before Davis bails. OKC needs to shed Melo and just keep up the super-athletic, long identity, and I think they could luck into a finals appearance if the chips fell right for them. Utah feels like Gordon Hayward away from being able to beat Houston. Portland needs Zach Collins to become Porzingas like next year. Denver...I don't know...but they have talent. Is there a 2004 Pistons version of that team? No true star, but just a really deep starting 5.

Are you saying Grayson Allen isn't Gordon Hayward? I love the Jazz to take the 3 seed this year. The Houston Melo signing feels like such a disaster to me that it gives space for the Rockets to fall to three (or four depending on Lakers) if Utah gets a full Gobert season. How do these teams keep letting Melo play when he's clearly out of shape - they're paying him crazy money to be Raymond Felton sized out there. Rondo feels like an underrated element to the Pelicans and most of why I think the Lakers will be a good team this year - he's been vindicated the past two seasons, it's weird people keep underestimating his impact on teams. And then I love the Nuggets who didn't even make the playoffs last year. Spur/Blazers/Twolves all feel like they could be solid or total implosions. Nba Nba Nba (Suns 2020 Suns 2020 Suns 2020)

Houston is going to make moves throughout the year, I think. They deserve the benefit of the doubt with what they've done with their team over the past couple years. The important question is the fantasy implications. Will Rondo be my 4th round pick or 5th round pick? Is Boogie worth drafting in the 6th or 7th round? Does Kevin Love start going 25-12 again? Are Anthony Davis's injuries a thing of the past. So much to consider...
