CNN Misses The Story
How many beers did they drink each? Jesus, if you're gonna report on this nonsense, at least get the good info. Did Biden get drunk and say something stupid? God, I hope so.
It looks like Gates changed his mind and got a Sam Adams Light. Biden drank Buckler. I am not familiar with that beer. Obama should of drank Sam Adams at least. Bud Light. His aides really screwed up. Why didn't someone tell him Bud Light is totally lame?
UPDATE - Holy Fucking Shit - Buckler is a non-alcoholic beer. What the hell is going on with this country? I'm ready to hit the streets in protest. These guys didn't even sit down for a real beer. Get the hell out of here. Why didn't they just get a latte instead? Our nation is going down the tubes. Vlad Putin is just waiting for a moment. The man probably drinks eight shots of vodka a night before writing his memoirs, ordering a journalist to be killed, building an oil pipeline himself, and running a marathon. When the shit hits the fan, we're going out to battle with two guys who drink bud light and non-alcoholic beer. Good lord, the British would of kicked our asses in the Revolution if GW and Alex Hamilton were drinking Bud Light and Buckner. Shit, we probably wouldn't of even beaten the Indians. Shit, we wouldn't of even made it over the Atlantic. Worse, we wouldn't of even thought about coming over the Atlantic. Non-Alcoholic Beer! I'm going bonkers right now. Is Biden in AA? Does that make you unqualified for being VP? They should of gone to Jamba Juice or Pinkberry. Good god. If I ran Mexico right now, I'd be seriously thinking about taking California back from this juice-drinkers.

Maybe they thought getting shit-hammered over a meeting fraught with racial tension wouldn't have been the best idea... especially Biden. If that guy got wasted, there's no telling what would've come out of his mouth. Remember, this is the guy who praised Obama on being "clean" and "well-spoken." :)
well obama does come across as clean and well spoken. so at least it's true. i wish someone would say that about me.
they should of all got shit faced drunk and if it ended up in a racial riot and they started beating each other up, i'd bet they'd get all this nonsense out of their system. i can guarantee it would have been more fun and interesting than whatever they talked about for an hour. i probably would of fallen asleep on the picnic table listening to gates talk about his plight.
i realized last night at in and out burger, it's pretty much impossible to be racist anymore. i mean, everyone around doing everything is some different race. if you were racist and didn't want to interact with blacks or hispanics or asians, it'd basically be impossible to do. yes, fine, i'm talking about los angeles, and maybe the whole country isn't like this. but i mean seriously, what is a racist going to do? you couldn't go to in and out, all the people serving you and waiting in line are some funky race. you can't work in a office or do business - you'd have to deal with someone who is another race.
you'd basically be stuck sitting at home all day grumbling.
the biggest racist we can come up with is an idiot cop who wrote a dumb email who apologizes about it afterwards. remind me if i ever get in the public eye for saying something offensive, to not apologize. these dudes look like neutered lambs up there when they apologize over and over. it makes me want to puke. don't say stupid shit. and if you do, apologize once and be done with it. no need to keep going on and on. it's undignified.
Totally agree!! It's so embarrassing to see this unnecessary staging of racial harmony. I mean, I would've preferred to hear that they'd had another fight at the table -- or a "spirited conversation" at the very least.
I do have to disagree just a bit on your scenario of the racist grumbling at home. I know what you mean that any racist in an urban, heterogeneous environment is gonna have a whole lot of angst, but being a racist doesn't necessarily mean you try to avoid the people you're racist against. It just means you subscribe to the belief that they're beneath you or that they are all a certain way.
The biggest idea that's occurred to me over these past few weeks of media-sponsored racial tension is that people in general need a new definition of the word "racism." I think it's been conflated with "prejudice" and "bias" and "ignorance" and "bigotry." PLUS, everyone now seems to think that Racist = KKK mask/swastika tattoo/no interaction with POC/burning cross. I think that definition is antiquated. The new definition should be a lot more nuanced.
What do you think?
the word i hear getting thrown around these days is racial. it means seeing things through a lens of race. i would argue gates is a bit more guilty of this than the cop because gates assumed there was a racist thing going on with the cop. the cop maybe had something going on subconsciencely about race, i don't know. but he acted like an idiot - not a racist.
but as for out-out racists the old fashioned kind - certainly still exist throughout the world. they are in iraq - killing each over over a slight religious difference. in sudan over religious and racial differences, the balkans. it exists. just not commonly here. and it's a good thing.
