The Blame Game
I wonder why it is that we humans, particularly Americans, insist that we have control over all things...
A natural disaster hits, anarchy ensues, and our inclination is always to think: whose fault is it? Obviously, the government is to blame - local, state, national...no, it's whoever built the levee - those idiots, making it possible to withstand a class 3 hurricane, not a class 4 like Katrina. Or it's president Bush's personal fault we don't have more national guards standing by everywhere in case of disaster.
I wish when people started yelling at each other over this whole thing the response would be this:
"This is a disaster and I wish it didn't happen. We are making our best effort at relief. We welcome any constructive, practical, suggestions that relate to the situation on the ground."
