Reality

We can safely assume Trump didn't want this Iran war, so the question becomes why he did it. Two options:

1) He was persuaded by hawks and Israel

2) He looked at intel that suggested they were close to a bomb and a ballistic missile combo that would be game-changing

My guess is the latter.
