Interesting piece at the Ringer. Maybe I should say - interesting idea for a piece. Why are the Ringer articles so long? Jesus. I had to stop reading. It often seems as though the articles that ought to be short are too long and the articles that could be longer are not, ie Game of Thrones stuff.

Anyhow, I've been thinking about this a bit lately with respect to "self driving cars." One of the reasons I'm against them at the moment is that culturally speaking, they are just another product that infantilizes us. It's like no one wants to be able to do anything anymore. I'd much rather have a society where everyone could drive stick shift than a society where people don't even need to know how to drive.
